Punching Animation

Using the a reference below I created a simple jab punch, I didn't follow the reference exactly, as my hero isn't a boxer, but it helped me see how the weight shifts throughout the body to get force behind the punch.

I created my own guard stance for my character, it's pretty standard but it was something I wanted to revert back to after actions.

 When animating I did have a few issues trying to make my character move in a realistic way, but I took another look at the 12 basic principles of animation to find that my character didn't ease into the punch.

I'll show you the before and after of my punching animation below:


I wanted to keep the snapping part of the punch, as when it comes to a quick jab punch this is the most important part. So many of the 12 basic principles of animation shed some light on the errors in my animation and while still not perfect, I'm far more happy about this animation.
